Company interview guide
Accenture interview process and practice questions
For freshers in India, candidates commonly report online cognitive, technical and coding assessments and a spoken-English communication test, followed by one interview that mixes technical and HR questions. Accenture says its technical assessments evaluate problem-solving, logical reasoning and applied technical knowledge, and it publishes six core values, from Client Value Creation to Stewardship. Outside India, candidates usually report a recruiter screen and team interviews instead.
As candidates commonly report it; it varies by team, level and year. Last reviewed 18 October 2026.

Behavioral questions
Tell me about a time you worked in a team to meet a deadline.
A good answer covers
- The deadline, what was at stake and what made it tight
- Your own part: what you took on and how you kept others in step
- Whether you made it, and what you'd plan differently next time
Tell me about a time a plan changed suddenly and you had to adapt.
A good answer covers
- What changed and why it mattered
- How quickly you adjusted and what you dropped or re-planned
- The result and what it taught you about handling change
Tell me about a time you helped someone from a different background feel included in a team.
A good answer covers
- Who they were and why they were on the edge of the group
- What you did, such as changing how meetings ran or pairing with them
- How the team and their work changed afterwards
Tell me about a time you did more than you were asked to make a customer or user happy.
A good answer covers
- What they asked for and what they really needed
- The extra step you took and why it was worth it
- How you know it made a difference to them
Role and technical questions
How do you keep learning new technologies?
A good answer covers
- Your actual routine: courses, documentation, side projects, certifications
- One recent example of something you learned and used
- How you decide what's worth learning next
Explain cloud computing to a client who has never used it, and name one risk they should know about.
A good answer covers
- A plain-words explanation: renting computing power and storage instead of owning servers
- The main benefits: paying for what you use, scaling up and down, less maintenance
- One honest risk, such as cost control, security settings or dependence on one provider
What is the difference between SQL and NoSQL databases, and when would you choose each?
A good answer covers
- SQL: tables, fixed schema, joins and strong consistency
- NoSQL: documents, key-value or other models, flexible schema, easier to spread across servers
- An example for each, such as banking records versus a product catalogue
A client says their shopping website is down during a big sale. What are your first steps?
A good answer covers
- Confirming the problem and how many users it affects
- Getting the site back first (roll back a release, add capacity) before the full root cause
- Keeping the client updated regularly, then a review of what caused it
How would you estimate how many people in Bengaluru order food through an app in a week?
A good answer covers
- A clear structure: population, share with smartphones, share who order online
- Sensible assumptions for how often each group orders, stated aloud
- A final number with a quick sanity check against something you know
For experienced candidates: tell me about a project where you moved a client's system to the cloud or a new platform. What went wrong?
A good answer covers
- The starting point, the target and why the client wanted the move
- Your role and the problem that surprised the team
- How it was fixed and what you'd plan differently on the next migration
Why Accenture? Fit and HR questions
Tell me about yourself.
A good answer covers
- Your studies or work so far and your strongest skills
- One project or experience that shows how you work with others
- Why this role at Accenture is your next step, in under two minutes
What do you know about Accenture?
A good answer covers
- What it does in a sentence: consulting, technology and operations services for clients
- One recent piece of work or news in the area you're applying for
- Why that makes you want to work there
Why do you want to work in consulting and technology services rather than at a product company?
A good answer covers
- What appeals about working for different clients and industries
- The skills you expect to build faster that way
- An honest view of the trade-off, such as less ownership of one product
Do you have any questions for us?
A good answer covers
- One or two thoughtful questions about the team, first projects or learning support
- Nothing already answered on the careers site
- A brief thank-you
Tips
- Speak clearly and at an even pace: there's a separate spoken-English test.
- Read Accenture's recent work in your area before the interview.
- In the communication test, listen to the whole prompt before answering and keep your sentences short and complete.
- Practise coding problems under time in the language you'll choose, including reading input and printing output correctly.
- Prepare stories on teamwork, deadlines and adapting to change; the single interview mixes them with technical questions.
Practise it out loud
A mock interview asks the way Accenture's interviewers are known to, follows up on your answers and gives you a report. The warm-up is free, needs no account and checks five of these questions as you answer.
