# P&G interview process and practice questions

P&G (Procter & Gamble) hires graduates and experienced people into brand management, sales, supply chain, finance, engineering and IT roles. Its careers site describes four steps: application, one or more online assessments (such as the Peak Performance Assessment and, for some roles, an Interactive Assessment of cognitive ability), behavioural interviews and an offer. P&G says its interviews show how you connect with its Purpose, Values and Principles.

As candidates commonly report it; it varies by team, level and year. Last reviewed 18 October 2026.

## The interview process

- 1 Online application with a short questionnaire
- 2 Online assessments: the Peak Performance Assessment, and for some roles an Interactive Assessment of cognitive ability
- 3 Behavioural interviews, one-on-one or panel, often a first round and a final round
- 4 Offer and onboarding

## What interviewers listen for

- Integrity
- Leadership
- Ownership
- Passion for Winning
- Trust
- Specific examples: what you did, how you did it and the result
- What motivates you and how you fit the role

## Behavioral questions

### Tell me about a time you led others to a result even though you weren't in charge.

A good answer covers

- The goal and why leadership was needed
- What you did to bring people along
- The result, with a number if you have one

### Tell me about a time you took ownership of something that was going wrong.

A good answer covers

- What was going wrong and why it was easy to leave
- The actions you took yourself
- The outcome and what you learned

### Tell me about a stretching goal you set yourself and how you went after it.

A good answer covers

- The goal and why it was a stretch
- Your plan and how you tracked progress
- Whether you hit it, and what you'd do differently

### Tell me about a time you did the right thing when nobody would have noticed otherwise.

A good answer covers

- The situation and the shortcut available
- What you did and why
- What it cost you and what it protected

### Tell me about a time you worked with people who saw a problem differently from you. How did you reach a decision?

A good answer covers

- The different views and why each made sense
- How you built trust and found common ground
- The decision and how the relationship held up

### Tell me about a new idea you came up with that improved how something was done.

A good answer covers

- The old way and its problem
- Your idea and how you tested it
- The improvement, measured if possible

## Role and technical questions

### A detergent brand's sales are flat. How would you find out why and decide what to do?

A good answer covers

- Splitting the problem: fewer buyers or less buying, and which channels and regions
- Looking at price, distribution, advertising and competitors
- One focused plan and the measure that would show it worked

### How would you plan a promotion with a large retailer, and how would you judge whether it paid off?

A good answer covers

- Agreeing goals with the retailer: sales, new shoppers, stock levels
- The mechanics: discount, display, timing, forecasting supply
- Judging extra sales against the cost, including sales borrowed from later weeks

### A plant is producing more defective packs than usual. How would you find and fix the cause?

A good answer covers

- Containing it first: stopping bad stock from reaching stores
- Data by line, shift, material batch and machine setting
- A root-cause fix and checks so it stays fixed

### Estimate how many nappies are used in Bengaluru each day. Talk me through your logic.

A good answer covers

- Population, share of babies, share using disposable nappies
- Nappies per baby per day, stated as an assumption
- A final number and a quick sense check

### How would you cut the time it takes to get products from a factory to stores without raising costs much?

A good answer covers

- Mapping the steps and where time is lost
- Options: better forecasts, fewer handoffs, direct deliveries, smarter stock positioning
- The trade-offs and which change you'd try first

## Why P&G? Fit and HR questions

### Why P&G, and why this function?

A good answer covers

- Something specific about P&G's brands or way of working
- Why the function fits your strengths, with evidence
- What you want to learn early on

### Which P&G brand would you like to work on, and what would you do for it?

A good answer covers

- A brand you know and who buys it
- One clear opportunity
- Your idea and how you'd measure it

## Tips

- Take the Peak Performance Assessment on your own, somewhere quiet; P&G says there are no right or wrong answers, so answer as you really are.
- P&G uses behavioural interviews: prepare specific stories about what you did and the result, not what the team did in general.
- Read P&G's Purpose, Values and Principles and be ready to show how your stories connect to them.
- Use the interview to learn about P&G too; its hiring page says two-way communication starts from day one.
- P&G says assessments must be done without real-time help from people or AI tools, so practise problem solving on your own.

## Practise it out loud

A mock interview asks the way P&G's interviewers are known to, follows up on your answers and gives you a report. The warm-up is free, needs no account and checks five of these questions as you answer.
