Candidates commonly report problem-solving and design rounds for technology roles, and case-style or operational questions for supply chain, operations and business roles, often about networks, hubs and on-time delivery.

## The interview process

- 1 Recruiter screen or campus shortlisting
- 2 Online test or coding round for technology roles (often)
- 3 Technical rounds on problem-solving, data and your projects
- 4 System design for experienced engineers
- 5 Case or operations round for supply chain, analytics and business roles
- 6 Hiring manager and HR round

## What interviewers listen for

- Operational thinking: hubs, routes, capacity and turnaround time
- Comfort with large, messy data from real-world operations
- Ownership on the ground: fixing problems at a facility or on a route
- Care for both the business shipping a parcel and the person receiving it
- Safety and process discipline in warehouses and on the road

## Behavioral questions

### Tell me about a time you improved how something worked on the ground, not just on paper.

A good answer covers

- What you saw first-hand that the reports missed
- The change you made with the people doing the work
- The result: time, errors or cost, with a number if possible

### Describe a time you had to deal with an operational crisis, such as a sudden backlog or breakdown.

A good answer covers

- What happened and how big the impact was
- How you set priorities and who you brought in
- How you cleared it and what you changed to prevent a repeat

### Tell me about a time you used data to convince people who were sceptical.

A good answer covers

- What they believed and why
- The data you gathered and how you presented it simply
- Whether they changed their minds, and what happened next

### Tell me about a time you managed a team or vendor who wasn't meeting expectations.

A good answer covers

- The gap, stated with facts
- The conversation you had and the support or deadline you set
- The outcome, including if you had to escalate or replace them

## Role and technical questions

### How would you design a system that tracks a parcel from pickup to delivery and shows customers an accurate status?

A good answer covers

- Scan events at each step flowing into an event stream
- Handling late, missing or out-of-order scans without confusing the customer
- Serving status and an estimated delivery time at scale

### Deliveries from one hub have been running late all week. How would you find the cause?

A good answer covers

- Locating the delay: inbound, sorting, line haul or last mile
- Comparing with other hubs and with the same hub last month
- Likely causes (volume, staffing, vehicles, a process change) and a quick test of each

### How would you plan delivery routes for riders in a busy part of Mumbai each morning?

A good answer covers

- Inputs: addresses, time windows, parcel sizes, rider capacity
- A practical approach: cluster by area, then order stops; exact solutions don't scale
- Adjusting for traffic and failed attempts during the day

### Festive season volumes are coming. How would you prepare a sorting centre for the peak?

A good answer covers

- Forecasting volume by day and planning staff, shifts and vehicles
- Space, equipment checks and training temporary staff early
- Daily tracking during the peak and a plan if volume exceeds the forecast

### Many deliveries fail because the customer isn't home. What would you try to reduce failed attempts?

A good answer covers

- Measuring where and when failures happen most
- Ideas: confirming slots, live tracking links, calling ahead, pickup points
- Testing one idea in a few areas and measuring the cost against the gain

### How would you predict a sensible delivery date to show a buyer at checkout?

A good answer covers

- Inputs: pickup and drop pin codes, route history, cut-off times, current load
- A simple model first, then improving it with data
- Balancing a promise that's attractive with one that's reliable

### Explain the difference between express parcel delivery and part truckload freight, and how their operations differ.

A good answer covers

- Express parcel: many small shipments, often to homes, speed matters
- Part truckload: larger business loads that share a truck between customers
- How sorting, vehicles and pricing differ between the two

### How would you decide where to place a new warehouse for a brand that sells across India?

A good answer covers

- Where the demand is, and the delivery speed the brand wants to offer
- Transport costs, land and labour availability
- Comparing a few options with rough numbers, and the trade-off you'd accept

## Why Delhivery? Fit and HR questions

### Why logistics, and why Delhivery?

A good answer covers

- What interests you about moving goods at scale
- Something specific about Delhivery's services or network
- The kind of problem you'd like to own

### Are you comfortable working at a hub or warehouse, including shifts, if the role needs it?

A good answer covers

- An honest answer about shifts and location
- Any time you've worked in an operational setting
- Why being close to the work would help you

## Tips

- Learn the vocabulary: first mile, middle mile, last mile, hub, sort centre, line haul, RTO (return to origin), turnaround time.
- In cases, follow the parcel from pickup to sorting, line haul and last mile, and find where the delay or cost sits.
- Mention seasonality: festive sales and shopping events change volumes sharply.
- For tech roles, show you understand messy real-world data: missed scans, wrong addresses, late updates.
